Acharavi is approximately 40 km from Corfu Town and combines the convenience of a lively resort with the natural beauty of northern Corfu. Restaurants, cafés, shops and local services are all close at hand, while the beach stretches along the coast with wonderful views across the Ionian Sea.
Whether you prefer spending your holiday beside the water, discovering traditional villages, taking a boat trip or exploring the island by car, Acharavi makes an excellent starting point for your Corfu adventure.
Acharavi
Relaxed days by the Ionian Sea
Acharavi has everything you need for an easy-going Mediterranean holiday.
Its long coastline offers plenty of space for swimming, sunbathing and enjoying the clear Ionian waters. Along the beachfront and through the centre of the resort you will find cafés, traditional tavernas, restaurants and bars, making it easy to move from a relaxing day at the beach to dinner and drinks in the evening.
The area is relatively flat compared with many parts of Corfu, so it is also pleasant to explore on foot. Walk along the coast towards neighbouring Almyros, enjoy a sunset drink beside the sea or simply discover the small streets and local businesses around Acharavi.
For guests who enjoy being active, the surrounding area also offers opportunities for water sports, cycling, walking and boat trips.

Set out from Thinalos and in minutes you are somewhere new.
Roda
Just a few minutes west, another relaxed seaside village with a beachfront lined with tavernas and cafés.
Sidari & Canal d'Amour
Further west, where the sea has carved impressive channels and unusual formations into the sandstone coastline — one of the most recognisable natural sights in northern Corfu.
Kassiopi
Heading east, one of our favourite places to recommend for an afternoon or evening out. Built around a picturesque harbour, it combines small beaches, waterfront restaurants, shops and the remains of its historic castle — usually around 20–30 minutes by car.
Old Perithia
Step back in time
One place you should not miss while staying in northern Corfu is Old Perithia.
Hidden in the mountains beneath Mount Pantokrator, this historic stone village feels completely different from the coastal resorts. Wander along its quiet lanes between old stone houses and churches before stopping at one of the traditional tavernas for a leisurely lunch.
The village developed centuries ago in a protected mountain location, away from the dangers of the coast, and today remains one of Corfu's most atmospheric traditional settlements. It is approximately 14 km from Acharavi, making it an excellent half-day excursion.
Mount Pantokrator

Rising behind northern Corfu is Mount Pantokrator, the highest mountain on the island.
A drive into the mountains rewards you with a very different side of Corfu: olive groves, tiny villages, winding roads and spectacular viewpoints. From the higher parts of the mountain, the panorama stretches across Corfu and the Ionian Sea, and on a clear day you can see the nearby Albanian coastline.
Combine a trip into the mountains with Old Perithia for one of the best days out from Acharavi.
Corfu Town
Discover Corfu Town
No holiday in Corfu is complete without spending time in Corfu Town.
Allow yourself a day or at least a long afternoon to wander through the narrow streets of the historic centre, browse its shops and small boutiques, stop for coffee beneath the elegant arcades of the Liston, and explore the vast Spianada Square and the impressive Old Fortress.
The town reflects the many cultures that have influenced Corfu over the centuries, particularly its long Venetian period, creating architecture and an atmosphere unlike almost anywhere else in Greece.
Stay until the evening if you can. As the temperature drops and the streets fill with people heading for dinner and drinks, Corfu Town becomes particularly beautiful.
Acharavi is connected with Corfu Town by the island's intercity bus network, although hiring a car or arranging a transfer gives you greater freedom for exploring.
West coast
Discover the beautiful west coast
Another wonderful day trip from Thinalos takes you across the island towards Corfu's dramatic western coastline.
Paleokastritsa is surrounded by green hills and a series of beautiful bays with clear blue water. Take a small boat to explore caves and secluded coves, spend the day swimming, or visit the monastery overlooking the coastline.
Nearby, Angelokastro rises dramatically above the sea. The historic Byzantine fortress occupies one of the island's most impressive locations and rewards the climb with panoramic views of the surrounding coastline.
Paleokastritsa can usually be reached from Acharavi in approximately 45–60 minutes, making it very manageable as a day trip.
From the sea
Experience Corfu from the sea
Some of the island's most memorable views are found from the water.
From northern Corfu you can join organised cruises or hire a boat and discover small bays, beaches and seaside villages that look completely different when approached from the sea.
The beautiful north-east coast of Corfu is particularly suited to a day on the water. Explore sheltered bays and picturesque places such as Kassiopi, Agios Stefanos, Kerasia and Kalami, stopping along the way for a swim or lunch at a waterfront taverna.
For a longer adventure, full-day cruises are also available to destinations such as Paxos and Antipaxos, famous for their turquoise water, sea caves and small harbours.
Off the beaten track
Beaches, villages and your own Corfu discoveries
Part of the pleasure of Corfu is simply exploring.
Rent a car or scooter, follow one of the island's smaller roads and you will soon find yourself passing through olive groves, traditional villages and viewpoints overlooking the sea. Stop at a family-run taverna, discover a small beach you had not planned to visit, or spend an afternoon watching fishing boats come and go from a village harbour.
Corfu offers much more than its famous attractions. Often, the places you discover along the way become the ones you remember most.
